Everyone needs a passport, to identify themselves as a citizen of their country of origin and to travel to a foreign country. In other words, a passport is essential for traveling outside of your home country.
The application for the Mexican Passport is a relatively simple procedure to obtain. It is only necessary to meet the requirements for either a first application or renewal and according to the age of the applicant.
Requirements for applying for a passport in Mexico
- For minors: Original birth certificate, Identification of the minor, OP7 permission.
- For adults: Original birth certificate, Official identification with photo, Marriage certificate (Only if you want it to appear with your married name.
For the renewal of the passport: The same documents are required, but it is also necessary to present a valid, or expiring passport.
Passport replacement for loss or theft: When a passport is lost, the applicant must present all the documentation required as in the first-time application. Must attach also a report of the theft or loss of the previous passport.

Validity of the Mexican Passport
According to your needs, a Mexican passport can be valid for 3, 6, or 10 years. You may process a passport valid for one or three years for children under three years old. It is possible to process a passport valid for three or six years for children over three years old and under eighteen years old.
